Term 5 and 6
Welcome to our Summer Terms. This will be an extremely active and busy one for our crew as we begin to prepare the children for their step into secondary school. Our learning enquiry is entitled, ‘Why do we need to adapt and change?’
Our mini enquiry questions through this unit are:
How do we know some creatures used to exist?
Why do some creatures no longer exist?
If living things don’t adapt and change, what will happen?
What is my legacy?
The children will be learning about the concepts of adaptation and evolution through their work in science. In geography we will explore the use of compasses and grid references to hone their fieldwork skills whilst in art, we have two fantastic artists to discover – Monet and Van Gogh. PE focusses on athletics this term in preparation for sports day. Our class reader is ‘Wonder’ – an absolutely fantastic novel which we are already enjoying reading. In maths, we will continue to develop children’s understanding in algebra, fractions and calculations through our secondary transition units.
