St Anne’s Church Academy PE and Sport Premium Funding

The purpose of sports funding is to ‘fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and Sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, in the 2019 – 20 academic year, to encourage to development of healthy, active lifestyles’.

Key indicators of the effective use of sports funding are:

Key indicator 1: The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that primary school children undertake at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day in school;

Key indicator 2: The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement;

Key indicator 3: Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport;

Key indicator 4: Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils;

Key indicator 5: Increased participation in competitive sport.

At St.Anne’s we adopt a child- centred holistic approach to physical education and sport as we believe our children should understand the importance of physical and mental health, fitness and well-being in order to lead healthy and active lives.  We believe children should enjoy communicating, collaborating and competing with each other and against themselves,  be able to apply a broad range of the fundamental skills in familiar and unfamiliar sports and have the confidence and self-belief to take physical risks and adopt challenges within a safe and secure learning environment.

We aim to develop physically literate individuals who embark upon a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport through using our sports premium funding. effectively to address all of these key indicators.

Our PE and Sport leader is  Miss Charlotte Bradley in partnership with Mrs Lin Hodges. They would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Healthy Schools Award
We have been awarded the Healthy schools award. Please read the final report as it is a really good reflection of the hard work that has been put in by the whole staff team over the past year.
A number of staff worked incredibly hard to ensure that all our objectives were met. The team from North Somerset were very impressed with the number of initiatives we had ongoing this year ( despite the many challenges!) They even had to ask us to slim our objectives down as we had too many things on the agenda!
