Terms Five and Six

This term, our enquiry question is: “How do animals survive?”

Children will explore how animals, including humans, survive and thrive in different environments. They will learn about the digestive system and the important role it plays in keeping us healthy, as well as investigating different types of teeth and how they help animals eat different foods. Pupils will also build and interpret food chains, identifying producers, predators and prey, and consider how living things depend on one another.

As part of this learning, children will discover how animals are suited to their habitats and how environments can change over time. They will group and classify living things in a variety of ways and explore how changes in the environment can sometimes pose dangers to living things.

In history, we will explore the settlement of Britain by the Anglo-Saxons.   Children will learn about the Roman withdrawal from Britain around AD 410 and the fall of the Western Roman Empire, before finding out who the Anglo-Saxons were, where they came from and why they chose to settle in Britain.
